VOGUE is a series of 39 audiovisual collages consisting of original VOGUE covers and short video loops from science fiction and horror films. The static beauty faces on the covers are obscured and replaced by animated creatures. They are hybrid identities caught in a permanent loop, half human, half animal, half man, half machine. — The modish, theatrical models become one with zombies, aliens, monsters and humanoids. The VOGUE covers breathe, roar, some have a language and speak of language. ‘This soul is a prisoner of his own body’, Herbert can be heard saying. Grace screams: ‘The limits of my language are the limits of my world’. Wittgenstein is quoted here. - Putting philosophy into alien, non-human mouths makes the hybrid beings seem more human, but no less alienating.

Es titelt 39 Namen, wie Frank, Klara, Tadeusz, Hector, Cleo oder Yuto. Jeder Name führt zu einer Seite mit einem Vogue-Cover, doch die statischen Beauty-Gesichter auf den Titelbildern sind verdeckt und durch animierte Kreaturen aus Science-Fiction- und Horrorfilmen ersetzt. Es sind in Dauerloop befangene Kreaturen, hybride Identitäten, halb Mensch, halb Tier, halb Mensch, halb Maschine. — Die modisch-theatralischen Models werden eins mit Zombies, Aliens, Monstern und Humanoiden. Die Vogue-Cover atmen, brüllen, manche haben eine Sprache und sprechen von Sprache. «This soul is a prisoner of his own body», hört man Herbert sagen. Grace schreit: «The limits of my language are the limits of my world».
